Culture Writing

Culture’s are what make countries unique or special in different ways. Each countries have different cultural activities and cultural rituals. Culture is seen in peoples  writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking, and in what they do.

Culture also includes how people understand the world and their own lives.
Different countries have different culture's. So for example some older Japanese people wear kimono’s, arrange flowers in vases and have tea ceremonies.

My family is from Tonga. In my culture we drink a special fruit juice called otai. What is your special tradition and what do you like to do in your country?

“Go!” yelled dad, he was yelling at the T.V while watching the Boxing during the Commonwealth games. Dad was watching very intensely,David Nyika looked strong. Boom his opponent was knocked to the ground, “hooray!” we all shouted. David won gold medal and he is a champion. Wow I thought I want to be a boxer when I grow up.

WW1 Lest we forget

On the 28th of June in 1914, Franz Ferdinand and his wife were in their car when a man called Gavrilo Princip came along and shot them dead. This terrible news echoed around the world and many countries were involved in a big war.Mr Burt and Mrs Flavell’s grandads volunteered themselves to suport New Zealand with British Empire.

The victoria cross was awarded to the soldiers who fought in the war.A lot of flags today is being flown at half mast and the poppies which grew after the war reminds us about that day. Anzac day is a special remembrance about the people who died and we will not forget them.

Commonwealth Games often called the friendly games has a unique place in sporting  history. It is an international event like the olympics except for the common wealth countries. This includes countries like England,New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

The first games were held in 1930 in Hamilton Canada.Eleven countries sent four hundred athletes to take part in six sports and fifty nine events.Since then they have been held every four  years. However in 1942 and 1946 the games were cancelled because of the second world war.

The event had many changes, even its name. From 1930 to 1950 the games were known as the British empire games.Later, from 1970 until 1974 they took the title of British Commonwealth games. Finally,at the 1978 games in Edmonton Canada, this multi- sport event changed its name to the commonwealth games.
